A Christmas Carol… the Therapeutic Intervention
A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. Today on Health Mind & Body radio I’m going to be talking about my personal favorite Christmas story (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Christmas_Carol)
A Christmas Carol is my favorite for several reasons, but I thought I’d put an interesting spin on the story from the standpoint of HYPNOTIC TRANCE. I, personally, believe it is the best example of a therapeutic HYPNOTIC intervention of EPIC PROPORTION and if you create a similar model of this in your life you could easily be a happy, healthier person from now on.
Here’s a quick synopsis.
Ebeneezer Scrooge, like most people, doesn’t know there’s a problem until someone else points it out. Which is kind of interesting since most of the time, in life, we aren’t listening or haven’t asked for someone to evaluate our life or life choices.
This sets up a double-bind of sorts. In the physical world, it usually takes more than one example for us to GET that something is wrong and if we get those examples over a long period of time, frequently we don’t relate one example to the former one or if it’s in a different context; we may not get it at all.
In the story, our buddy, Ebeneezer has had lots of examples that his life may be something less than stellar. But he’s not listening… until his friend comes to call.
What’s going to happen next is that he is going to get three examples very quickly in three different contexts about the choices that he has made and what the long-term implications of those choices may. I think that if more people could get more examples of their behavior in shorter time frames they wouldn’t have to have a complete breakdown before they might notice some changes need to made in their lives.
