Demons-R-Us… King Solomon, Second Trance
Demons? Yes, I said demons. That word is so super-charged that I could conceivably be putting myself out of favor with the “in-crowd” even by typing that word. We are all adults here so read on or have a nice day. It will also be useful to remember that I am reporting on a deep trance identification that I did rather than giving you some insight as to what I do in my personal life. *smiles
Demons (daemons) are benevolent or benign nature spirits. Beings of the same nature as both mortals and deities, similar to ghosts, chthonic heroes, spirit guides, forces of nature, or the deities themselves. A demon (daemon) is not so much a type of quasi-divine being, according to Burkert, but rather a non-personified “peculiar mode” of their activity. This could also be the quasi-definition we use for Archetype without all the religious overtones. I think it’s also useful to remember that until about the invention of Judaism and Christianity. Prior to this, demons were regarded as spirits or divine powers. Much like our current association with ghosts and spirits that you can see on a half a dozen cable TV shows. After the invention of modern religion, demons are no longer possible good guys.
Connecting with King Solomon was strange. Another example of connecting with subjects that don’t have modern thoughts and conditions. They see and interact with the world in a completely different way and it hard to describe, like telling a blind person what a rainbow looks like. The connect felt loose if that makes sense? I was there but not there at the same time.
The trance itself was all over the place. Different competing thoughts about living, his kingdom and what was going on like reading a facebook feed; lots of information that isn’t connected.
He also seemed difficult to pin down to any specific answers to question I was asking. Like they didn’t make sense to him or they were so mundane and trivial that answering would be beneath him. Not in a haughty way but kind of like a child asking why the sky was blue or some other inane unanswerable question? He wasn’t rude or unpleasant, he just seemed preoccupied with bigger things. When my time was up he was gone.
Answers to Questions
The building of his city and the establishment of trade routes that created tribute annually. These trade routes would last for hundreds of years, but they didn’t.
Having multiple wives is hard for anyone and they are distracting. All kings have advisors and through these distractions, set the tone for his children’s undoing and the legacy that he created collapsed. He was bummed about that. But I got the sense he would have done the same thing if given a do-over.
He didn’t think that life was pre-destined. You are the master of your fate and you must step boldly. Does that sound like a “Kingly” answer? I thought so too.
Did King Solomon use demons to build his temple? Probably. It was a different world and their acceptance of the world they lived in was so very different than ours. Their perception of the spirit world was completely different and taken as a help rather than dangerous or evil.
Imagine a world where there are fewer distractions. No TV, internet, etc. What could you accomplish? My guess is a lot. Do you live in a world where you can talk to your dead relatives, animals or trees? How about rivers and streams? My guess is they could on steroids.
We probably should take a step back from deciding whether what he was doing was right or wrong since we weren’t there and the rules have changed drastically. We now live in a world that if you say “I talk to spirits”, you can lose your job, get kicked out of your church or even your community. But you can now watch it on TV if you have cable.
