Wow! You really swing for the fence… the downside of hyper-achievement and perfectionism…
I seem to know and attract people who are highly motivated, self-regulated superhumans that for the most part don’t really need any help. At least that’s the way it appears, at first glance.
There is a downside to perfectionism. The downside seems to be, that while you’re busy CHECKING THINGS OFF YOUR LIST… you might be missing the fact there’s a world going on around you.
Now I’m not suggesting that you goof off or shirk your work or business duties… you get paid for that sort of thing. Nor am I suggesting that you let your house fall into shambles around. What I’m talking about is a little more subtle.
It goes like this. I know that people work very hard on completing their goals… good for them. The thing that makes me wonder is when they have completed their goal; they don’t even wait for the dust to settle before they are ON TO THE NEXT ONE.
This seems extreme to me. and I used to be exactly like those folks. Driven, hard-core and if you ask my adult children… I wasn’t a whole lot of fun to be around.
Now I’m older (hopefully wiser) I am really picky about what I put into my life and even pickier about what I remove from my life.
